The bible makes it clear that God’s desire all along was for us to resemble Him, have a close relationship with Him and to have authority over all that He created.
Gen 1:26-28 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Unfortunately, as a result of Adam and Eve’s disobedience in the Garden of Eden, humanity suffered separation from God and suffered loss of the authority and benefits we had in Him. We inherited a sinful nature which kept us separated from God and denied us of the intimacy we were meant to have with Him as our Heavenly Father.
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.
Isaiah 59:2. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.
…. But God, because of His great love for us, sent His Son to die for us, even when we did not know or recognise Him as God. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our forgiveness and reconciliation. This forgiveness is available to us all through acceptance of Jesus as our Lord and Saviour.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
If you would like to begin your journey with God and grow in relationship with Him, all that is required is that you confess your sins (acknowledge your failings, shortcomings, wrong doings), repent of them (make a decision to change), ask Him for His forgiveness and accept Him into your heart.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
If you’re ready to take this step today, please say this prayer with all your heart:
Dear Jesus, thank you for your love for me. Thank you for choosing to lay down your life for me and for your precious blood that washed me clean from all my sin and guilt. I confess my sins and repent of them. Please come into my heart and into my life. Help me to live my life in accordance with the will of the heavenly Father. Thank you for hearing me and for adopting me into your family. In Your name I pray. Amen!
